Welcome message from Mike Fishwick, Chief Technology Officer
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has embarked on the biggest transformation in its history and this ambitious, exciting journey means unique opportunities to introduce and exploit some of the very latest technologies. We are changing the way the department works, with the ultimate aims to ensure we continue to deliver excellent customer service, whilst making access easier through expanding our digital offering and enhancing the users experience. The IPO is overhauling its entire strategy to create a more agile, customer facing and digitally enhanced organisation making it the best place for businesses to do business.
To help us on this journey, we are looking to recruit a Senior IT Architecture/Deputy Chief Technology Officer to join the IT Directorate where the successful candidate will play a vital role leading a multi-disciplined team in developing and enhancing IPO’s key digital and IT services. The enthusiastic individual will help shape business thinking around exploitation of IT, leading engagement with IPO’s senior business leaders ensuring they have a full understanding of the IT landscape and working closely with them to develop transformation plans.
The IPO has an IT team of around 150 which sets technical strategy and provides technical direction, support and guidance to our Newport and London offices. We are also active contributors on the international IP stage.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be working across a complex and challenging IT estate; responsible for designing, implementing and continuously improving IPO’s key architectural domains, transforming our IT capability as well as decommissioning legacy systems and services which are no longer fit for purpose.
This is an exciting and ultimately rewarding challenge for an individual with energy,
enthusiasm and experience at a key time for the future development of the
Chief Technology Officer
